Stronger Together: How our Community Fuels Every Fitness Journey

At Hammer’s Gym we have always believed the real power of fitness lies not just in technique or intensity but in the people beside you, pushing through every punch, squat and sprint. Whether you are 18 or 65, brand new or a seasoned athlete, the Hammers Gym community is what turns a workout into a lifelong journey of growth, confidence and connection. Here are a few of the people who make it what it is, in their own words.

The power of community

“When you’re old, you gotta train.”
Sol, 65, nearly a decade at Hammer’s Gym

Sol’s mantra captures what Hammer’s is about. We are more than a fight gym: from our youngest teens to our most seasoned members, everyone shows up to challenge themselves and to lift each other up. Training alongside peers creates an accountability no solo session can match. You find motivation in every pair of eyes when you watch someone else grind through a drill, shared celebration when a personal best gets a cheer from the whole floor, and a built-in support network on the tough days that reminds you why you started. Read more in why gym community beats solo training.

Coaches who stay

“Bruna makes every session feel like home.”
Tass, long-time client, 8 years at Hammer’s Gym

Eight years and counting, Bruna Lettieri has been the backbone of our group classes and one-on-one personal training programs. Her consistency is not just about turning up; she brings expert guidance, a tailored approach and genuine care to every session. That kind of coaching continuity delivers trust (you know exactly what to expect, so you can focus on effort and form), clear progress tracking with milestones you can celebrate, and long-term relationships. Many of Bruna’s clients have been with her, and with Hammer’s, since their very first day. Meet the rest of the team on our personal trainers page.

Real member stories

Meridith’s confidence journey

When Meridith first walked in she could not coordinate a single combination. Today she hits pads with precision and feels stronger and more self-assured than ever. Her secret was embracing a variety of classes and leaning on the encouragement of fellow members rather than trying to do it alone.

Tommy’s transformation

“Was a bit of a fat unit, so I came here and I lost 30 kilos in 10 months. It transformed me, it made me a new man.”
Tommy, 8 years at Hammer’s Gym, trained Muay Thai with Mark Hammer

Tommy walked in looking for self-defence skills and left with far more. “I learned self-defence, so I walked in a different person than I am today,” he says. “I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. I got hooked on the challenge and bettering myself.” The change reached beyond the gym: “The confidence I’ve gained from coming to this place has just been unreal. I’ve definitely changed my mindset towards other things in my life as well, not just fitness. If I saw myself back then, I wouldn’t recognise myself.”

His advice to anyone who thinks they are not sporty: “You might surprise yourself, and you definitely have fun along the way.” Tommy’s story is a reminder that consistent effort and the right coach produce life-changing results, and that it can be enjoyable the whole way through.
