Whether you are brand new to the gym or an experienced trainer who has stalled, working one-on-one with a coach is the fastest way to change your results. The benefits of a personal trainer go far beyond someone counting your reps: you get a program built for your body and goals, technique that keeps you safe, and the accountability that turns good intentions into a routine. At Hammer’s Gym in Nunawading our trainers are taking on new clients and your first session is free. Here is what you get.
1. A program built for you
Generic routines from the internet are written for nobody in particular. A personal trainer designs your program around your goals, your current fitness, your injury history and your schedule, then adjusts it as you progress. Whether you want to lose weight, build muscle, get strong for sport or simply feel healthier, the plan fits you, not the other way around. Our balanced gym program guide shows the principles; a trainer applies them to you.
2. Motivation and accountability
It is easy to skip a session when nobody is expecting you. A booked appointment with a trainer who knows your goals changes that completely. You turn up, you work harder than you would alone and you build consistency, which is the single biggest predictor of results. Read how to stay consistent for why this matters most in winter.
3. Proper form and technique
Good technique makes every exercise more effective and dramatically reduces injury risk, especially in compound lifts like squats, deadlifts and presses. A trainer spots and corrects the small errors you cannot see yourself before they become habits or injuries. It is the fastest way to avoid the most common gym mistakes.
4. Nutrition guidance
Fitness is more than exercise. Our trainers offer practical nutrition guidance to match your training: how to set your calories for fat loss or muscle gain, how much protein you need, meal planning and portion control, and honest advice on which supplements are worth it. Start with our calorie deficit vs surplus explainer.
5. Support through the whole journey
Progress is rarely a straight line. A trainer celebrates your wins, helps you through setbacks and keeps you focused on the long-term goal when motivation dips. Many of our members have worked with the same coach for years; read about them in Stronger Together.

How it works at Hammer’s
Your first session is a free consultation and workout: we talk through your goals and history, assess how you move and give you a taste of how a session feels. From there you can train one-on-one, in a pair with a friend, or use a trainer to write and review a program you run yourself. Sessions run on one of the biggest gym floors in Melbourne’s east, with access to the recovery zone afterwards.
