Learn Mixed martial arts (MMA) at Hammers gym with our fully structured curriculum coaching you through all the fundamentals including striking, wrestling and ground based combat.
Hammers Gym MMA classes are broken up into a 6 week learning cycle detailed below.
- Week 1 – Striking and distance control
- Week 2 – Clinch and strikes from the Clinch
- Week 3 – Takedowns
- Week 4 – Ground positions and strikes
- Week 5 – Submissions and escapes
- Week 6 – revision
MMA at Hammers Gym incorporates elements from styles such as Boxing, Karate, Muay Thai and grappling martial arts such as Judo, wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
It is essential to participate in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes before partaking in the MMA classes.
There are opportunities to begin your MMA competition journey with local amateur tournaments but you must have experience in interclub sparring days and grappling tournaments beforehand.
